For my audio story, I took a scene from the first film in a series of superhero films I wrote, Aegis, and turned it into a short story that reads like a novel. I narrated it as such and added sound effects to go along with the action. This audio story fits my topic “About Me” because it is part of something that I’ve spent years of my life creating. I did my best to explain the context in my narration, but to clear up any confusion; Hannah can create lightning bolts with her hands, can fly and has super strength and durability. Naomi pilots a mech suit, which is like a large robotic suit. Think of the big Hulk-buster suit that Iron Man used to fight Hulk in Avengers: Age of Ultron. I love all of my characters, but these two are in the top three because of who they are as well as what they can do. This scene, to me, is very gut wrenching because the two heroes are pitted against each other because of the villain’s mind control abilities, then it gets worse from there when they are both under his control and are commanded to take him to the rest of the heroes so he can control them as well. It was an easy choice to be the scene that I used for this project.
In regards to the technical side of things, I recorded my narration with my iPhone. All of the sound effects I used are audio files that I’ve recorded myself throughout my college career for use in various short films that I’ve made. I added the rain sound effect on a separate track from the narration and faded it out at the end, giving a couple seconds after the last line of dialogue for dramatic effect. I might let it linger a bit longer in my final audio story. I added the electricity crackling sound effects together on a third track, since they needed to be roughly the same volume. I did the same with the snapping and impact sound effects on a fourth track. Finally, I added the crash landing sound effect on a fifth track because the volume had to be lowered considerably. This draft is a start, but I think it could benefit from some music and a couple more sound effects.
